General Information about Volleyball at LHHS
1. All athletes must have a completed physical form on file by 9:00 am on August 3, 2009 to be eligible to practice.
2. All athletes must have a completed UIL Acknowledgment of Rules on file by 9:00 am on August 3, 2009 to be eligible.
3. All volleyball players must pass our physical testing with an 80% or better to be eligible to play in games. Please see our additional handout for an explanation of the physical testing.
4. All practices are mandatory. Dentist appointments, etc. should NOT be scheduled during this time.
Even injured players must attend practice- there is a lot to learn!
5. Attendance will be considered concerning playing time and for grading. If you are going to be absent, you must notify your coach in advance. If you are sick, you must call and let them know that you will not be there. The makeup work for an absence is three towels. If the coach is not notified in advance, the makeup work is six towels.
6. Playing time is determined by the coaching staff only.
7. If a child has a concern about her playing time, then she must schedule a time to meet with the coach.
8. Please do not question the playing time of another player. It is inappropriate. Coaches will not answer questions about other players.
9. If a parent has a concern that cannot be addressed by the athlete, please follow the line of communication established by the administration. It is as follows:
| 1- Team Coach | Call the office to set up an appointment |
| 2- Head Coach (if different) | 816-804-3677- Coach Melissa Christman |
| 3- LHHS Athletic Director | 469-593-1180- Coach Scott Smith |
| 4- Grade level principal | |
| 5- Building principal | 469-593-1000- Principal Walter Kelley |
11. Off season participation is required of any athlete that wishes to play the following year. Only those athletes participating in another LHHS sport are excused.
12. All players ride the bus to and from Tuesday night games. All players ride the bus to Friday night games, but may be signed out by a parent or guardian following the games. Nobody is allowed to leave until all of the games are finished.
13. UIL mandates that all athletes are enrolled in 5 credit bearing classes.
14. UIL mandates that athletes live with their parent or legal guardian in the attendance zone.
15. UIL mandates that players receive no monetary gifts or items of any value from coaches, school personnel, or anyone in the community (including parents). They cannot receive items as part of the team even if the parents pay for it. If you ever have any questions about anything for the team ask Coach Christman.
16. Parent involvement is appreciated and encouraged! Cheryl Zreet and Amy Hillman will
serve as the Wildcat Club Parent Advisors this year. They have a lot of different responsibilities. Please help them in any way that you can.
